Download The Spectre v1 #4
Not an especially likeable fellow, the Spectre never achieved great popularity. He was dumped from More Fun Comics in 1944. He remained in limbo for two decades and finally made a comeback in Showcase #60. Gardner Fox wrote the scripts and Murphy Anderson did the drawing. In 1967 the Spectre was given a book of his own, but that lasted for only ten issues.
When the Spectre next returned the Ghostly Guardian was much nastier and meaner.
